Sometimes can't get gear into reverse

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
RAV 4 1998, aprx. 117K miles Sometimes, after starting her up, I can't get reverse into gear. Always goes in eventually, and for some reason some pumping on the brake seems to help. What's going on? How to fix? I'm selling it soon and I don't want to hide anything. Thank you!

might be reverse scyro's???? You might want to take it to a tranny shop just to verify.

I'm thinking the trans is starting to go out. Check fluid level, but it sounds to me like a bad valve body in the trans.
The warm feeling I get when someone is thoughtful enough to say thank you for having been helped far outweighs the empty one I get when there's no feedback at all toyota rav4 toyota rav4
check your tranny fluid then if tht is good it might be the gears inside might be starting to go
