How does the locking differential work on a manual trans 2000 rav4? Is the car always in AWD and the differential lock provides extra traction on demand? Or is it only a 2wd w/out the button pushed?

if the drive shaft torns all the time then thers a shifting fork in the dif that acuates th 4wd thers also a way that you can lock the rear in full time to give you mor traction you hafto cut a wire and thats it i cant remember whitch one it was on truck u
