Overdrive not working

Overdrive not changing stay all tim in
3rd gear unless when you goes down
from high hills to flat roads after that
back to 3rd gear.
And the engine has been replaced.
The new engine 2.4L 2ZA the old
engine was 2.0L 1ZA. help me plz

Was it a motor AND transmission changed? The 2.4 didn't debut until 2004

Onlly engine 2AZ 2.4L replaced not transmission. Cheers
