when stoped place 4x4 selector in(4x4-hi)if you only use ur suv on roads youll never need (4x4-low)even though toyota and every other manufacture will make claims like "shift-on-the-fly" dont do it you end up clashing the gears in your transfercase and over time can cause major damage

If it's push button, push the 4WD HI button when you are creeping (under 2 mph). If it's manual, put it in neutral and place the selector in 4-HI. Make sure it grabs.

Also, do not use 4WD on dry roads with traction. Only use it off road or in snow and such.
