Fuel gauge doesn't work

My fuel gauge doesn't work and there's no access
panel in the trunk like there's supposed to be 2005
Chevy Impala

For the 05, my info says you drop the gas tank to get at the fuel pump. note the diagram for sending unit. See the two wire collars. maybe you can get at wire connector w/o dropping the tank? If so, take connector loose, use resistor between those two wire colors. 40 ohm resistor represents empty, 250 ohm resistor represents full. Key on, if gage reacts properly, the problem is the sending unit, most likely. If gage does not react properly, the problem maybe the wiring circuit or instrument cluster? Radioshack has resistors among other places. Good luck
