Thermostat

I drove the Malibu for about a year and was about to replace the thermostat when the heads cracked. Purchased an Impala and the engine light came on. I had it checked and they said it's the thermostat. I still have the one I bought for the Malibu. So it should fit?

what was the code ? Who's "they" ? The thermostat has a temp. rating on it , if it was the same size engine and it fits why not ? Do you still have the receipt ? Google the part number see if they match .

I went to Auto Zone and had a guy run a digital diagnostic. I was in a rush that day and didn't ask many questions. I have my dad holding the thermostat at the moment but I'll have him look. I'm pretty sure the engine was the same size, but it's been a few months and can't remember off the top of my head. Unfortunately I didn't keep that receipt, I normally would but there was a lot of stuff in the Malibu when I scrapped it.
