Engine & Transmission Swap

Asked by Joe Aug 02, 2017 at 09:12 AM about the 2005 Chevrolet Impala FWD

Question type: Car Customization

I have a 1998 Pontiac Grand Prix Se with good 3.8l
motor but gutted out body, i also have a 2005
chevy impala with a Great Body but Gutted out
engine (shot), i understand that yes 05' impalas
came with 3.8 also and understand that swapping
both 3.8l engine AND tranny from grand prix to
impala would be necissarry , now my question is,
what other components would need to be
swapped or modified also, if any?  Drive shaft
position difference?? Rack and pinion??

Oh, impalas original motor is 3.4l, and the swap isnt for performance reasons, basically in need of additional vehicle for daily commute

the Pontiac is a W body platform car. The malibu is an N body platform car. The 3.8 will not physically fit in the Malibu. Call around to salvage yards and see if they would trade you a 3.4 for your Grand Prix
