the sky is the limit if you don't take it off road, don't GUN it. perform scheduled maintainence and basically respect it and treat it like your baby, not your whore~

i've heard of the engine lasting 300k with good care. a Xmission can last up to 160k miles with proper fluid and filter changes(in my experience).

Are you talking gas mileage or engine life? As far as gas mileage it all depends on a perfectly maintained engine and what platform, base, LS or SS and there is not a lot of difference there, low end is 16-17 miles per gal. city and 26 - 27 Highway. Mileage life of an engine depends on a lot of factors. Mainly how well maintained it has been and what engine, they had the 3.4L in the base and 3.8 in the SS.

I have a 2005 Impala. I bought mine in 2008 with 44k miles. I now have 220k miles on it and have experienced no major problems. Original motor and tranny. Over the years, I have replaced a head gasket, exhaust, wheel bearing, tie rods, and the security system. Also basic maintenance, oil changes and filter, fuel filter, air filter, brakes, rotors, fluids. Things runs great. I expect it to last all the way to 300k miles.

I have a 2005 base with 250k. Haven’t changed the oil in a year. I’ve owned it for nearly 3 years. Paid $500 and the ac will freeze you out.

Currently have a 2007 Impala, purchased with 64000. 3.5 liter. In the years I've put a ton of suspension parts on it but as far as motor and tranny, one tranny cooler hose, two water pumps and one spark plug change last year. Exhaust twice. Just had the rear wheel wells rebuilt two months ago but that has alot to do with damage I never fixed right. Oh and two thermostat sensors, all motor mounts. All this I have done myself with basic tools except the axle nut socket. Now the personal crap I've don't to it. Backed into a pole smashing the back corner, beat it out and it is what it is. Off guardrails twice, a lil wire brush wheel on the drill and Rust-Oleum high gloss black, most people can't tell. I don't even know how many ditches. The underneath is terribly beat up. Motor cradle all dented, both pans linked and dented. I live in Western PA, they use alot of salt in the winters and we have a huge amount of back rough roads. Decently clean car underneath. Here's the kicker. I currently have almost 309000 miles on it and you can take that car out and run the balls of it. Fast accelerations to hard stops. Lots of power and perfect shifts. Every time. I use conventual oil but I swear by Lucas oil stabilizer. A quart every oil change. Never did a transmission fluid change. I tell everyone get in it and run it. Don't be scared. Because I'm not.

'04 impala bought used with 144k on it for $1200 from a friend in '17. I just replaced the original battery in it. I've put on 100k in almost 3 years. Very solid car. I don't treat it like I should and it still holds on strong. By far the most reliable car I've ever owned. Minor things done like headlight cover replacement. Out side of that and the recently replaced battery it's all original( obviously tires, wipers, brakes and fluid changes). I'm actually looking to get another. I just love the impala. This one is still holding on but I want to give it a break.

I have 2005 Chevy Impala with just over 300,000 miles. Someone rear-ended me so now it's off the road.

I have a 05 LS, I bought it with 191,000 for $1,500.00 it currently have 303,000. Chevy dealer said I should be able to get up to 400,000 as long as I take are of her. Only thing I've had to replace on the car is wheel barrings. Engine and tranny still going strong.

I have a 2005 Impala 3.8 with 246,000 miles. I have put alot of money into it over the years to keep it going....rebuilt transmission installed at 131,000 miles to replace failed original....3 catalytic converters, 1 resonator, wheel bearings, tie rod ends, intake manifold gaskets, replaced cracked exhaust manifold, 2 blower motors for the heat/ac, water pump, 2 steering racks, one high pressure power steering line, alternator, 2 power window regulators, instrument cluster needs replacement because speedo and tach stopped working, one windshield due to crack, front axle shafts/cv joints, 2 EGR valves Various sensors such as MAP sensor, MAP sensor, etc Plus normal maintenance such as brakes, oil changes, tuneups, trans fluid changes, etc. Rocker panels are rotting out because the fancy plastic lower body mouldings trapped water and salt over the years. I have put 2 new front fenders on due to body rot. Anyone else would have given up on this car years ago. I like the way it rides on long trips, low engine RPM's at highway speeds due to overdrive and it still gets 28-30 mpg on trips...plus I like the body styling.

I have 311,000 miles on my 2005 Impala 3.4L, no motor work needed, still running great and that includes some hard driving. AT replaced at 265,000 and fuel pump went out at around 305K. Other than that just front wheel bearings, brakes, rotors, starter, usual maintenance, oil change w/synthetic oil every 5000 miles and transmission fluid and filter change every 25-30K.. I'm easier on it now and hoping for at least another 100,000 miles. BEST CAR I EVER OWNED! I recently found an 05 Impala LS with 70K. 3.8L....hoping that one will be just as good.
