Sounds like a clogged PCV valve. Replace it and inspect the hoses going to and from the PCV valve for cracks and other damage. Hope that helps! Jim
Thank you Jim, very helpful, a shade tree mech. Told me that there is a pressure release valve under the valve cover that is stuck open ..I cant hunt down that part and it just doesnt make sense to me..thanks again
On a car that is 19 years old I would suspect engine blowby as the cause.
Bummer, it's has a lot of little things wrong with it, it maybe time to say goodbye..I appreciate your help..thanks for your time
First try cleaning or replacing the PCV. A heavier oil in the engine may buy you some time.
Thank you , I bought one this morning also replaced a small vacuum hose..I'll put the new PCV valve in when the sun gets lower in the sky..
Thanks for you help guys. I replaced the PCV valve and it running much better.. But at highway speeds the oils is still blowing through to the air cleaner..F_O_R is right, must be worn rings..thanks again y'all
Thanks for the update. If you are using 5W30 oil try 10W40. I have also found that with high mile engines that use oil, keeping clean oil in the engine helps with oil consumption. Try changing oil more often.
You're welcome. Glad to help and thanks for letting us know!! Jim
IS there a crankcase pressure release valve mounted under the front valve cover?
