What are the symptoms of a broken timing chain
on 2005 malibu classoc

well it sure wont start and dont try and start it..motor makes a bad noise ..or wont turn over at all ..why do you say broken...bad/worn yes....take valve cover off and turn balancer a few degrees left and right ..do the valves move up and down at all

Have you done any testing? Do you have spark--fuel--injector pulse? The cranking rpms may be faster if timing chain is broke. If you remove oil fill cap and shine a lite down in there, can you see the valve-train or cam moving when you crank it? If you can see down in there and no movement, engine cranking, it could be the chain.
