Won't crank won't start

Asked by Tim Apr 04, 2019 at 12:12 PM about the 2002 Chevrolet Malibu FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2002 Chevy Malibu and I was having the passlock issues
for a while where the anti theft would blink and car wouldn't get fuel
but still crank, and the 10 minute reset seemed to be doing the trick
every time. Well now the car won't even turn over or crank. The anti-
theft light is not on and when I try to start it there is nothing. No
click, no turning over just silence. After trying to start and leave it in
the on position, the radio doesn't work, there is no headlamps or
power to the car. I hear the fuel pump prime for 2 secs when turning
to the on position and then nothing. No radio no lights no nothing.
The steering wheel remains unlocked all the time too. So far I've
replaced the ignition, and the main ign fuse replaced.  when the ign
main fuse was pulled the radio started to work but still nothing
when I try to start the car. No clicking no nothing. Just the fuel
pump. Please any help would be greatly appreciated

Note the diagram, for starter motor. Make sure battery has a full charge. If the battery is down, we're just spinning our wheels, as far as testing. If the battery is down, use a battery charger and get it charged up. Make sure battery connections are all good. Your security system should have nothing to do with your starter motor. Just my opinion.
