Why does my headlights dim when I use my turn signals ?

When I turn the signal on the headlights dim when the turn signal is off the headlights
stay dim if I tape the signal switch sometimes it brights them but not always

Thank you I thats very helpful I will change them switch and look at the connections and change the headlight bulds
