Fog lights hooked to the wrong switch

Asked by iharpe18 Nov 21, 2018 at 12:55 PM about the 2004 Chevrolet Avalanche 1500 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I bought a used car and it has new fog lights, but when they hooked it up, they
connected them to the switch that manually turns on the dashboard lights. Is
there a tutorial that shows how to properly hook them up?

Note the wiring diagram. Your vehicle should have factory fog lamps. As you can see, the bcm is involved. You can see fog lamp relay. The multifunction switch in diagram, is a ground circuit, lets the bcm know what the switch is doing, then the bcm grounds the control side of fog lamp relay.
