if battery is bad you wont be able to jump it. take battery to a auto store they can test it for free
Thank you. But If the battery is completely dead how is the check engine light coming on?
its a light not a starter. a starter draws a lot more amps. prob only need 3-4 volts for a dim light in dash
might be a good battery. that's why a auto store can charge and test it to see if its good... then you need a voltmeter. if you have a voltmeter put it on battery now and if it's less that 11 volts it wont start. if the alternator wont charge it then eventually it will die. headlights turn signals and engine all require voltage and eventually will use it all up if alternator isn't recharging battery
Are you still having issues or found anything out? I have an 03 that does the same thing. Ran the codes and bcm has popped up several times. This problem is very aggravating. Ignition switch could also be a problem. That's a recall on mine.
Check the ground cable it has a small wire that is plugged into the wire harness that was why my car didn't have any power at all
I have a 2002 Yukon i was trying to change radios out but now my car has no power to the switch or to the battery and my battery is good because I was just driving it and idk what else to do
My 01 chevy impala ls is doing the same i turn the key no crank no power no radio no lights just check engine light turns on
I have a 2013 Chevy Impala it crank sometimes sometimes it won't I replaced starter battery and both of the knock sensors still having the same problem

My car started doing the same thing. Yesterday it did it in the Parking Lot. Did it to me in the street. Both the parking attendant and I got it to start by pressing the door lock button.

My car is a 2008 Buick lucrene I drove it to auto zone for them to check y my light was on , they tryd but no power was going to my thingy, u plug the thing they got to check it with...so they couldn't check it , so I said ok, got ready to leave started the car , and it cut off I did it again a couple times and tryed to hurry and take it out of park and hit the gas but it cut off. Again and again. Then it started to roll in park! I was screaming cause I couldn't stop the car ,it was heading towards two parked cars, then a inch from the cars it stops! I sat there shaking with my car door open and leg hanging out cause I was trying to stop it like the Flintstones (mind u I weigh 98lbs ). Anyways now when I try to start it it won't start st all my check engine light is on. The radio comes on the ac...but the dash lights are conpletly off. I turn the key.nothing. .what do u all think? Plz help me:( I just got this car , and I waited so long to get this car I've been sick and I was so tierd of walking everywhere :(
Mine did the same thing.my volume stopped working on the radio also.was the first thing then the rest happened. I cleaned all the grounds sanded them and cleaned them. And that's what was wrong with mine works fine now and volume on radio works as well again.Try cleaning all the grounds.
My 13 impala has been doing this for about a month. I go down to start it after driving it fine all day 2 days prior, and then it won't start. No auto locks, no diagnostic lights, can't use the key fob to unlock and also the key won't turn to start it. Hubby tries jumping it.... Still dead. But get this... A day or so later it will start no problem...???

My 2013 Chevy impala LT no power just check engine light. Need help
Like Steve said above (really helped me out), it was a grounding issue for me. I replaced the battery on my 2012 Chevy Impala LTZ and the car wouldn't start/crank/click/anything. No lights/power locks/other electric features would work. The only light that would show was the check engine light. There was also a high pitch humming sound, not sure what this was still. Verified it was a ground by using a multimeter to read the voltage from the positive terminal of the battery to the negative terminal of the battery (it read ~12.6V, like it should). Then read from negative terminal to the grounding strap (it also read ~12V... should have read 0V). This showed I had a ground. Cleaned of the negative and positive terminal clamps and detached and retached the grounding strap. Re-read the voltage, now the voltage between negative terminal and ground was ~0V... like it should be. Not entirely sure what the exact problem was, grounding strap and terminals looked connected firmly with no significant corrosion. Really took a multimeter to correctly diagnose the problem with the grounding cable.

Had a master mechanic look at my 2015 Chevy Impala which was doing the same thing, key got stuck in ignition, ZERO power except for engine light.... ITS THE GROUNDING WIRE!!!!!!!! holy smokes! he went through the battery, fuses and everything to find out the grounding wire was corroded and loose. What a nightmare. but it's running now!
