Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 04 chevrolet malibu won't crank up but will turn over. Changed the fuel
pump last year, alternator last year, starter is fine, and battery is good. Was
told it was the timing belt? I am going to pay to get it diagnosed by the
dealer where i brought it from. What signs show that a timing belt has went
out? When it was being driven, the car cut off and the battery light came
on. Went and got it charged and car still wont start but will turn over. HELP

Could it be something else besides the timing belt? I have never had the water pump replaced...i have had the car for 7 years and it has 220,000 miles on it

If it's not the belt, i think its time replace the belt and pump...
