You can't fix just the light, you will need to replace the whole radio.

This issue can in fact be repaired, but you will need to know how to solder...gingerly. The problem typically lies with a resistor on the main circuit board inside the radio. It's located toward the "rear" of the radio and is either resistor R862 or R863. Typically, it just needs to be heated up in order for the existing solder to reflow, mending cracks that occur over time, being exposed to fluctuating temperature and constant vibrations. It is the result of poor craftsmanship at the assembly plant, but has been known to be repairable.

Hey ScubaCamper, Thank you for the answer about resistor #R862 or #R863. You were absolutely right and that solved my problem. One slight correction... they're located near the front of the radio, not the rear. But hey... resoldering them fixed the problem. You're a genius. Thanks again!

@Texas_Ridgeline: I’m thrilled the suggestion has proved helpful, and thank you for the compliment but I’m not the one who found that solution. I found it on the Ridgeline forum (Ridgeline Owners Club) and simply shared my education and experience some other expert there shared! :) I fixed my radio doing this procedure well over a year ago and my radio still lights up perfectly! It seems reasonable to suggest this is a permanent fix - just practice soldering on a junk circuit board a few times and you’ll get it!

You have to gently pry the bezel off the dash and proceed with the fasteners for the radio. Search YouTube for a video, I would be surprised if you don’t find one.

is the board where the resistors are on the outside of the metal housing or do you have to somehow disassemble the unit? How hard is it to get to the board. Thanks.

The circuitboard is inside the radio, behind the face plate. You’ll have to take the radio apart, yes
