I have 91 merceds 300 e series, the back brake light on the driver won't come on, any ideas?

It is likely that it's just the bulb that's blown. If the bulb looks ok then check for signs of corrosion on the bulb holder, as JS08016 said, your car is 22 years old now so there could be many possibilities. Corrosion on the contacts and the "wires" printed onto bulb holder are common and you should be looking for a blueish/greenish patch or infact anything that looks out of the ordinary. Give it a quick scrub with a small wire brush or wire wool.
