'94 C280 turns over won't fire. have bypassed fuel pump relay and have fuel at
engine. how do I check for spark? and what's next?

I would be concerned about the quality of the gas after that period of time. That year is also subject to wiring harness problems. For detecting spark to plug (s) a simple noid light to an inductive style pickup would determine if spark is going to plug.
