I have a 2004 2500 chevy suburban The check engine light is on. I have had on two occaisions the tighten fuel cap message and now the fuel indicator will not move off of empty, even though I just filled the tank.

My Buick Terraza, 2005, has a fuel sender issue and will read empty when I fill it and the engine light comes on until I use about 5 gallons of fuel then it works fine. Ton of money to replace it. GM Cars about that time of manufacture has these issues. The sending unit is inside the gas tank. It has to be removed, aired out and replaced. If I remember, I was quoted over $500 to $700 as a fix. I just set the trip-o-meter back to zero on every fill up and when the mileage gets to a set number, I re-fill.
