My 2004 trailblazer shut off when I came to a stop. It has never done this before. What could be wrong?

The lights, radio, windows, and alarm still work. The rpm and mph meters were going off. I cannot change gears from park. All dash lights work. The ignition fuse was fine. Any other suggestions would be great.

Need more information when you say can not change gears is that even with the key in the on position ? Will vehicle start back up ? Turns over but no crank or no crank at all ?
When I say cannot switch gears, I mean I cannot take it out of park.. When the key is in the on position it will not crank at all... it has not started back up since it went down

Could be your neutral safety switch it is sensing that your vehicle is in drive or reverse and not letting you crank or put in gear. That is just my guess maybe someone else can give you a better answer.
