Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hi, I own a 97 e420 and recently the starter
went out. I replaced it with a new one but
when I reconnected tge battery it started
turning over by itself without the key being in

yes , the + is making contact with the solenoid wire , pay attention to details , easy fix

Wires were touching, thank you so much, now that weve fixed that, the starter is working but there's no fire from the engine

you have no spark ? check any large fuses under the hood by the batt. something may have blown out from power surges or gone bad by pure coincidence , like many things in todays' world cars can't handle diversity
