check engine light on

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hello, I went to an  independent shop for my MB service B. After the
service, they told me that the check engine light is on ( was off )  and the
code P0015, P0022. But the car runs fine. I reset the check engine light
then drove for 100 miles. The light did not come back. For safety, I made
an appointment with dealer. They told me they can not do anything without
the light on. Does that mean it is safe to drive till the light appears. Any
thought ?

An old post I know but for anyone with the same codes, code p0015 - camshaft position sensor "B" on bank 1 is over retarded. Code p0022 - camshaft position sensor "A" on bank 2 is over retarded. After a quick scout around the web it seems these sensors are about $200 each fitted. Dealerships will probably advise you to replace all 4.
