you got a new battery already? would suggest you wirebrush the electrical connection to the chassis....and to the engine~

There is a module behind your dash that needs to be replaced. I had the same problem on my 500 SL. By now you have probably already had it fixed. Cost for you should have been between 2.5k - 3.5k depending on your local.
Mercedes Benz uses a protection set up in their cars. If your battery is starting to go the protection will not allow the car to crank. It will seem like it is totally dead. If you jump start the car only the important equipment will function. AC radio etc will all act crazy. Even after you replace the battery there is a set up you need to perform to get the other electronics back on line. I had this occur when the battery in my 03 E320 was finally getting ready to go.
How do you find what the set up is,after you disconnected the battery?
