Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Switches, relays, and fuses all checkout as working properly.  Left standard
headlamp bulb shield is very dark presumed from overheating.  Checked bulb
and it had failed.  As soon as bulb was removed the right headlight came on.
Replaced both bulbs.  Now working but why does one bulb affect the other.
Separate circuits Right?  Makes no sense.

Answer: The bulb in the left low beam had a blown bulb. Now this shouldn't be a problem because the low beams are wired in series and one should not affect the other but the bulb was shorted out internally with a piece of the coil wedged across the contacts. This caused overheating within this headlight burning the shielding hood. But, it must have shorted out the circuit that connected to the right headlamp without blowing the fuse. Strange anomaly..
