Do you really need the 2500 vs the 1500 ? My 1500 with the 5300 gets 22-24 mpg on the hwy @ 70 mph on cruise. 3:73 Rear diff. Factory rating was 17 mpg city, 22 mpg hwy, I have always gotten that as a minimum. These trucks are very sensitive to speed, if you drive much faster than 112-115 klm/hr or 70 mph you will pay a huge fuel penalty at the pump. It easliy pulls a 6000 lb car trailer. I would suspect the 6000 mtr & heavier 2500 Avalanche would be lucky to hit 15 mpg on the hwy. Some years of Avalanche are worse than others. My friends had the 2005 & 2006, I was doing much better on fuel mileage than they were, not sure what the difference is.
in the 2500 4x4 avalanche you would get 14-15 hwy with the vortec 6000. with the vortec 8100 you will get 6-8 in town and 10-12 on the highway.
if u let it cruise on that V4...you get some good ass gas milage
depends on what ur doing , my local mpg is around 13.5 but my best hwy is 24mpg, and i've towed a racecar at 70-75mph, with the a/c on and up n down mts and avg was 14
depending on what year your talking about.. I know that the newer avalanche's are no longer in 2wd.. they're all 4 wheel..
I don't know about the 2500 but I have a 2004 1500 4wd, I am running aftermarket exhaust, cold air intake and superchips programmer, and if I run the economy setting with 87 octane I get roughly 21 mpg on the highway, in town not so good, I usually run 91 or 93 octane for the pulling program, and then run it in the peformance setting for the summer, her I get about 17 mpg on the hwy and roughly 11 in town, the problem I have is that with this combination of mods it runs roughly 350 horse on the dyno, and the sound it makes.......its just to much fun to drive, and then as you can guess....mpg goes out the window. But lets face it, if you want fuel economy, buy one of those import trucks, if you want pure pulling power and comfort buy an avalanche.
lol I hear ya.. Avalanche's are nice, but only if your wanting comfort... gotta admit tho, you got some good HP out of your truck. About a month or 2 ago, when I was working at the dealership I had a customer wanting to trade in his 2005 Silverado 2500 for a 2009 Avalanche.. not quite sure why.. I mean the Silverado was in perfect shape.. the guy said he took the old motor out and put in a 352 ( is questionable..) .. replaced the tires with off-road tires, lifted about 3 inches.. and has well near 600 HP... course.. diesel. He was only getting a good 15 mpg.. if that.. but man.. turn that thing on it was like... what the hell was that kinda look... Was going to buy it, until I found out that the salesman wanted 26 grand for it.. thought it was a rip off.. mainly due to the fact that a used 2009 Sliverado goes for 24 grand.. and his truck only had 50,000 miles on the body.. 10,000 miles on the motor... so yea..
Now lets be careful! no No NO IMPORT truck gets better GAS mileage than Chevy! I own and have owned Pickups and Suburbans. I like my Avavlanche best for every day as I can do a bit of both duties in great comfort. If I have to only have one it will be an Avalanche. That is mine in the segemnt photo but I have BLACK six spoke rims with white letter tires.
