Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I live in Michigan and during the cold months the engine light will come on when the gas tank reachs half full ( not always) I check it with my OB II reader, reads same code in all cases, basiclly leak at gas cap, dealer states same thing, gas cap replaced, still light will come back on some times. Went to my Hot Rod repair guy and he said it prombly the gas tank expanding from cold to warm since we park in a garage. What do you think?

Hello, This is a tough one, but I think that your mechanic is probably right. Next time you fill your tank, put some dry gas in it and see if that helps at all. I lived in New England for most of my life, and I swear by the stuff. Best of luck! CarGrrl
