2002 TURBOCHARGED F250 LOUD POP THE STALLED

Asked by Jenna0208 Dec 12, 2016 at 05:43 AM about the 2002 Ford F-250 Super Duty XLT Crew Cab LB

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2002 F250, (as I was driving down the
interstate at 70mph) mad a loud pop like
something pressured below under the
hood. I immediately lost 90% power and
the truck started rapidly slowing and just
stopped. I noticed a bit of smoke coming
out from under the hood but when I
opened it up very little smoke or steam
rolled out. I honestly was not sure what
kind of liquid I was looking at because
there was very little showing but what I did
see wasa thin glaze of milky looking stuff
on the inside roof of the hood. It was no
where else on the motor except for just a
bit on the dip stick pipe. The only other
thing I noticed immediately was the my oil
dip stick had blown out. What would cause
that??  So with being stuck on the side of
the interstate I decide to close the hood
say a quick prayer and give it a shot to get
home. The truck started and idled fine and
as I began to pull away I felt a sigh of relief
because everything worked fine up until I
hit 40mph. Once at 40 the truck would not
let me go any faster whatsoever.  I am at a
loss here and in great need of some
advice.  PLEASE HELP and thanks

Jenna

I don't know the problem but a careful visual inspection should find something. Did you check the oil level? Was the oil clean or contaminated?
