2001 7.3 turbo diesel

Asked by GuruP2G2X Jan 26, 2020 at 08:51 PM about the 2001 Ford F-250 Super Duty XL 4WD Extended Cab SB

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My truck is a 2001 f250 7.3l turbo diesel and has
been acting like the batteries are bad but I can
jump it Of and it starts and runs.  I think it might be
the alternator but the headlights dim and brighten
and dim and brighten.  Tonight the truck seemed
light it was about to die so we stopped and it
wouldn’t start again. Anyone have a starting point
for me or anything that will help me know where to
start?

1 Answer

Test the batteries or just replace them if they are more than 4 years old. I would also test the alternator output voltage.
