My first guess would be the Air temperature control unit! Begin checking to make sure there isn't a blown fuse for the air control and once you've confirmed that I would begin going into the dash itself. I've had a few Impala's come through my shop with similar issues and I've always been able to solve the problem by changing the air control module under the radio. The problem seems prevalent to both the impalas and the malibus
