How to tell if my heater blower is out

Asked by drakkosnake Sep 24, 2015 at 08:29 PM about the 2003 Chevrolet Malibu FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I drive a 03 Chevy Malibu and you can hear in the engine when I turn on the fan for the heat or air but nothing comes out I have to put pressure on the blower motor itself to get heat anymore.

i would try and tap on blower motor under passenger side dash, if fan comes on the blower motor is bad , if it doesnt , i would check the plug going to blower motor , if one of the wires looks like it is melted then motor is bad it will need a plug as well , when the motor starts going bad its draws more amperage and usually causes the ground wire to get hot and melt, just a note if the blower only works on certain speeds the blower motor resistor is bad, good luck
