Mass air flow

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I had a bogging, and other issues with
my car. I unplugged the MAF and car
ran perfect. Only issue is with it
disconnected tranny goes into safe
mode and shifts hard. I put new MAF
and car is still bogging, low idle, etc.
Code comes up MAF. I unplugged it
again and car runs fine. I had to start
car with it plugged in and quick unplug
to trick it out of safe mode (to get it
home from part store). But can no
longer do now for fear of damage to
tranny and engine. Any clue as to what
it could be?

There is normally two issues that cause the MAF sensor not to respond. Check all your vacuum hoses for a leak or collapsed hose. The other being a bad or missing ground on the sensor wires.
