Won't read an OBD reader

Asked by Brian Apr 05, 2019 at 05:10 PM about the 2002 Ford Explorer Sport Trac Crew Cab

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

So my check engine light came on and I
took it to a local repair shop to have it
looked at. The said that my OBD reader
port isn't working because they can't get
the thing to connect to their OBD readers.
They've tried it on other vehicles however
and it works just fine. Is this normal, what
should I do/ can they do??

As it turns out I had 2 blown fuses that were the culprit. The other issue w/ my engine is that my fuel pressure sensor was bad (only reading .8 instead of 2.8). Thanks for the reply

Call around locate a shop that can do more then plug a scan tool in and say it won"t connect.. OBD port is easy to test with the right tools such as these are basic.
