Oil leaking out of bell housing

Was driving home car started smoking
kinda bluish gray out of the exhaust Real
bad and it had Used all the oil none
showing on dipstick.  Car never got hot.
We took off Pcv valve cleaned it out. Then
Put or 5  quarts oil back in started it up.  
Then it began pouring oil out of what
looked liked the bell housing and dripping
oil out of exhaust .  What would cause
both of these things to happen?

Oil coming out the exhaust, or oil dripping off of the exhaust? Oil coming from the bell housing would be the crankshaft rear seal is needing to be replaced.
