Hello my engine light is on I fix the problem I disconnected the battery for 1 hour it came back on went to autozone they told me that I need to erase the code it's that true?

Yes they are right. That's why you went there in the fist place, isn't it ?

yes, sometimes unhooking the battery wont do it. if you need to reset the code it will take a scanner. autozone should be able to do it with their scanner.

Try a local service station , they will probably charge you between $50- $75.00......unless you are having issues with sensors, then the light will keep coming on until the necessary rprs. are made.

We are assuming that you fixed the problem with the CEL, if so, any shop with a scanner should be able to do what greaseball said. If the light persists, then you didn't fix the problem to begin with.
