I have a 2004 Ford Explorer sport trac

Asked by Alex Nov 29, 2014 at 03:25 AM about the 2004 Ford Explorer Sport Trac XLT Crew Cab

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The truck did a weird shake one day
and I got a check engine light so I
went to autozone and got a p0193
error code so I replaced the fuel filter
first then when I was driving a couple
of weeks later while stopped the
engine shut off and gave a check
engine light and low battery light but
turned back on after I turned it off
then it did again a couple of days
later but wouldn't turn on this time I
was driving and it shut off so I
replaced the fuel pump but it still
wouldn't start after checking the
battery it was bad so I replaced it
then it would turn on but once it
warmed after like 20 minutes the
engine would shut off and not turn
on so we replaced the spark plugs
and had the same problem again and
We figured out that it might be the
cool so we replaced the coil and it
still happened so we disconnected
the battery so that if the computer
had to reset it could but now it won't
even turn on it cranks but doesn't
turn on we are stumped as to what it
could be so any help would be
greatly appreciated

Might want to check your o2 sensors, if your truck is running to lean it can produce symptoms similar to this. Also the crank shaft sensor... Hope this might help you out.

It was actually the harmonic balancer that had broken and it rubbed against the crankshaft sensor and that was why it would turn off apparently the harmonic balancer breaking is a big problem with these trucks and I'm lucky it rubbed the sensor and shut my truck off cause if i had kept running it it could have kept moving back and hit the engine eventually.
