2001 Ford Sport Trac VIN E

Asked by Nicholas Mar 24, 2019 at 08:28 PM about the 2001 Ford Explorer Sport Trac Crew Cab

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have replaced the Battery (thrice), Alternator ( had it checked after
replacing multiple times), and starter. Fixed ground points. Now I see my
voltage regulator and everyone I find on the internet is three prongs and the
connector I even got from ford themselves has three wires. My plug for the
voltage regulator only has two. Ford gave me a print out of a wiring diagram
which I thought generator was the voltage regulator and now From research
I pretty sure its the whole alternator. Their diagram shows only 3 wires
coming from the alternator. Why is my alternator not charging the battery?

Check your cable from the battery to the starter. Then check the wires coming off the solenoid and make sure they are not grounded or broke.
