91 ford f150 valve body?

Asked by Defordswamp Mar 09, 2021 at 08:34 PM about the 1991 Ford F-150 XLT Lariat LB

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

So when I got my truck I would let off the gas to
kinda help it switch into 3rd gear. It's an AOD
transmission, on 5.0 2wd. Then about a month
later I lost 3rd gear. Then slowly lost 2nd gear. I
have 1st and reverse, but that's it. Don't know alot
about transmissions. Also I changed out sensor on
rear axle and sensor on the top driver side of
transmission and drained and refilled transmission
fluid. Need help bad, wanted to give to son for his
first car. Do you think it's the valve body or ???

So you don't think it's the valve body stuck? And if so are you saying the Trans X will help unstick? Cause I really don't remember seeing any shavings, would they be totally noticeable? Thanks for helping me really appreciate it

Alright, update, I drained some fluid and put the Trans X in. Let it run in neutral for 15 minutes and then shifted it up and down through all of the gears. Then drove it down the road and got 2nd back! Still no 3rd, but I'll let it sit for a week and see. Thank you so much for your help. I'll let ya know what I get
