heater issue

i have a 1992 ford f150 and while i was drining down the road with the heater
on it started to blow out a large amount of white smoke so i pulled over and
checked the engine and there was no smoke turned the heater of and it
stoped turned it back on and it started again the whole time there was no
smoke coming out the engine bay is it my heater core or somethin else

I would assume the temp is cold outside. Is what you seeing smoke or condensation? Does it have an odor? If the blend door malfunctions and begins pumping cold air over the heater core condensation will come out the vents.

Check the level of the coolant and see if it is going down. Some coolants have a sweet smell. The main reason you do not want to dump in on the ground if you have dogs. They will try to drink it. Another possibility is a leak in the AC core inside the dash. That would cause smoke to come out of the dash. Check and see if the AC compressor turns on when you switch that system on. When the pressure in the system drops to low, the compressor will not click on.
