What does that dampener gate look like how can I get to it?

Before u start tearing things apart, make sure u have hot water flow in your heater hoses, not by feel but actual flow, sometimes you get build up inside water hoses and there's enough to keep hoses warm but not enough for heater. You'll want to remove the inlet and if there's water flow there, remove the return side of the heater to make sure

The damper or gate is attached to your cold/hot switch knob with a cable which opens gate as you rotate the temperature knob back n forth. The gate is accessed by removing your glove box cover and a few modules behind glove box in front of heater core. you'll see some 5/16" screw heads holding the heater core cover in place, may have to remove them to see if gate is actually opening

Gotcha. I just got this truck. It's been sitting in a barn for a few years. So I might go ahead and replace the heater core, and flush everything out one of these days. So I should be able to check that gate on the way in. I did pull the glove box out and saw that cable is connected and moving the door. If its not broke off. Thanks for the help..

Did u check to make sure ur antifreeze is curculating?

Yeah. I have put in a thermostat already.

If its been parked in a barn for any length of time I would suspect a mouse has built a house around the heater core.
