Question type: Maintenance & Repair

No engine light.
Truck starts fine on first start and sits and a higher
idle. But it sits at high idle for a long time. Also
when i get in and i go to put it in reverse it just
takes off without touching the gas. Same when i
put it back in drive. I can get to 30 mph without
touching the gas pedal at all. While I’m driving it’s
like someone is pressing the gas at all times even
when I’m coming to a stop. Once i come to a stop
the rpms drop from the 2-3k range back down to
normal ish around 1000. But i let go of the break
and it just takes back off again back up to 30
without touching gas over time. After truck is warm
and has been shut off.. when i go back to start it it
either won’t start or it will and when i put it in gear
(drive or reverse) it stalls out. After it stalls out it will
do the same problem for hours. Gotta let truck cool
down and start it on cold start and drive it home.
Truck has sat sense but i keep starting it and trying
to work on it but can’t figure it out completely. Any
info would help thanks!

Remove and clean the throttle body completely with throttle body cleaner, the Idle Control Valve also. With the body off, shine a flashlight through the front (or back) of the body with the butterfly completely closed. You should not see any light around the perimeter of the butterfly when closed.
