Rotor not being flush to bearing and hub assembly

Asked by GuruN97VM Oct 08, 2019 at 08:51 PM about the 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche 1500 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My front driver side rotor on the 02 chevy
avalanche does not sit flush when I put the
brake caliper on it. It sits crooked instead of
flush and it is heating as I'm driving. I brake
and it makes a scraping noise it doesn't
sound bad when driving. I need help why
would it be crooked. I think my dust shield is
upside down but I don't think that could be
the problem

Sounds like a problem with the wheel bearing hub assembly. Replace it and make dam sure you torque the bolts to the recommended torque. Some parts stores will want in excess of $200 for the hub assembly but if you google it it can be had for around $50 and easy to do .

Bear in mind that the $50 ones often have a life span of about a year so if you're selling it soon go that route, but if you need it to last long term then spring for the good one.
