Chevy Avalanche 2002

Asked by Armaflex Feb 04, 2016 at 10:11 PM about the 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche 1500 4WD

I've had my truck ransacked twice in the last
month and thought maybe I had left the door
unlocked. Nothing much taken but after the 2nd
time I did a little checking and found out that other
late model Chevy keys will lock and unlock my
driver door. I had read that electronic lock system
on Chevy's can be opened with any other late
model Chevy key. My sons 02 blazer key will
unlock my door. How the hell does that happen
and nothing in the news or in recall info. I'm sitting
here dumbfounded?

whatever- even if the door is locked, they will just smash the window- be grateful you don't have to replace window glass, too- just don't leave ANYTHING in your vehicle- and leave it unlocked- or move to a small town- really

Just punks on garbage night. Going thru the recycle dumpster. Just to easy to get into with any Chevy key. And don't want to put in new locks if other Chevy keys fit the damn thing. Can't even put alarm on the truck as the key would deactivate the alarm anyway. So sounds like government motors doesn't even know how to secure their vehicles much less chicken s ignition switches. Guess could super glue door locks and hope electronic actuators don't fail!
