Cat delete

I have a 2002 Chevy avalanche with the
5.3l v8. I have 2 cats but only want to cut 1
off and put flex pipe in it's place. Will
cutting 1 cat mess up the motor? I'm not
worried about be legal or the check engine
light.

I doubt removing one would mess up the motor but it is illegal to do so.

ONE CONVERTER, TWO CONVERTERS OR NO CONVERTERS WON'T EFFECT THE ENGINE. JUST BE SURE TO LEAVE THE O2 SENSORS. IF YOU HAVE AN O2 ON EACH SIDE THEY MUST STAY THEY ARE HELPING YOUR ECM OR PCM TELL THE INJECTORS HOW MUCH GAS SHOULD BE INJECTED. IF YOU HAVE POST CONVERTER O2 SENSOR THAT CAN BE REMOVED IT ONLY TELLS THE ECM/PCM IF THE FRONT O2 IS WORKING OR NOT.
