4wd
Truck will not shift into 4wd. I am asking for my son. He
has checked fuses, checked ground wires, etc. Thinking he
needs to have it diagnosed but thought i would try this first.

is the selector switch lit up at all? mine had no lights. do you have a "service 4wd" message? I did and pulled a code C0308 "motor a/b circuits low". I thought it was the encoder motor but tested the leads and turned out the problem was the transfer case control module, you can get one on ebay for $60. Just make sure it's from the same year and model and it's just plug and play. disconnect the battery. gotta take the dash cover and light switch off but it's easy. The hard part is wriggling it out and back in but I did it in about an hour.
