1996 Ford f150 overheating

Did you flush the radiator and engine with a good radiator cleaner? If the radiator is too dirty you will need a new one. Install new radiator hoses while you are at it,

Did you bleed air from system ?

I bled the air but no haven't flushed it yet

Ok I've tried everything, nothing is working guage still on the L, and when I accelerate it goes way down to the National on NORMAL. I've changed the water pump , the coolant temp sensor, flushed the radiator, and replaced the fan do not know what else to do

How are you bleeding the air from the system ?

And are you sure the thermostat is installed correctly ? Not saying you do not know what you are doing but I have myself have put it in wrong a few times. Trust me it is easy to do install wrong.

Ford put the thermostat in for me and I agree they are easy to install wrong I even ran without one to see if it changed things still the same

You may be due for a new radiator.

Let me ask you a question is your A.C condenser in front of or behind the radiator ? This is a long shot but I have had it happen before if condenser is in front of radiator maybe clogged fins on condenser causing not enough air flow to radiator. Clean condenser coil fins with a garden hose and nozzle or better yet a pressure washer using the the fan sprayer tip not the straight stream spray tip. Even if condenser is not in front of radiator would suggest try cleaning radiator fins.

I am have similar problem with a 1996 F150 with a 6L 4.9 engine. We have changed the Thermostat, water pump, radiator hoses, and now the fan clutch. My husband is wondering if there might be two different directional turning water pumps for this year vehicle because we are not getting hot air to the heater and it keeps boiling over. Help
