Tighten the tensioner of a fan belt after
installing the alternator

If there is no tensioner pulley on the vehicle, the alternator bracket should slide to tighten the belt. The tensioner pulley should have a square hole (3/8 drive) where the socket wrench is inserted and you can pull the tensioner back to slip on the belt.
