1998 Ford F-150 XLT Triton- Door lock switch (passenger en drivers side) will only lock. It doesn't unlock

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Dear all,

My 1998 Ford F-150 XLT Triton has issues with the door locks. The switch
will lock the doors but it won't unlock them. This is happening for both
sides. The driver side and the passenger side.

Any ideas what i can do? I already checked the fuse box and everything
seems to be ok there. i used the door lock switch from an F-150 1997 just
to test and it still won't unlock.

Please some advise.

The power lock circuit probably has an OPEN... when you try and energize the actuator to raise the lock NO power, but has current flowing on one leg so it can lock / operates the actuator in one direction. If you have a multimeter and a schematic Its NOT hard to diagnose. Regards

If you have a schematic of the door locks you can jump the lock/unlock switch with a short piece of wire. If it locks/unlocks with the jump, replace the switch. If not, begin looking for an open circuit.
