Will changing the fuel pump mess up the ECM?

My son had the fuel pump changed on his
1998 Ford F-150 and now the mechanic said
old him by doing that it blew the fuse for the
ECM? Is this true or did the mechanic mess
up? They want about $2,000 to fix everything
