I have a 2002 Cavalier. It was cold did a a half crank and now wouldnt crank at all. I was told needed a new battery so i purchased one. same thing key in go to turn nothing. Any thing simple this could be I am below novice and next alternative is to have it towed which I cant afford either

also I checked all ignition related fuses/starter fuses they are fine. that is the extent of what I know how to do. I had no mechanical issues previously. it runs fine only 99k miles

I'm assuming that you squeezed the radiator hoses to make sure your not frozen ( some people add water in the summer and forget to make sure their anti-freeze is still strong enough not to freeze) Try putting a 100 watt bulb (or higher if you have one) on top of the engine ... keep it away from anything that may melt. Give it 3 or 4 hours and if it's an issue that's related to the cold it may solve the problem .... just how cold is it?
