reverse light switch is included in the park/neutral position switch on top of the trans if automatic trans. the input wire to pnp switch is pink and is fused from b/u - turn fuse and when in reverse the output is lt green to lights if manual it is a switch on trans by itself same wiring as auto
alright ill try that and thanx tom and the car is manual
i had the same proplem on my 03 cavalier manual
what does a switch cost??
i think it was like 25 30 bucks or something id check it first with a meter see if it is switch i dont replace anything unless it is bad
I fixed this on my 2000 Cavalier 5 speed last night. On a manual transmission 2.2 5 speed Cavalier the back up light switch is near the left front axle driveshaft. Take off the left front wheel. Behind a splash guard, above and forward of the driveshaft is the switch. Its wires point to the rear. Press a tab on the plastic wire connector and pull it off to the rear. A 19mm medium well socket fits the switch. An impact type deep socket is too big to fit because of brake lines below the ABS modulator. The part cost $20 at O'reilly, lifetime warranty, in stock on the shelf, means this switch breaks a lot and they sell enough to keep them stocked.
